Humanitarian Emergency Aid for Flood Victims in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Bosnia and Herzegovina is currently being ravaged by a devastating flood. The heaviest rainfall for 120 years has brought about dramatic flooding. Lands and villages are under water and cut off from the outside world. Especially the north-east and central Bosnia are affected.

Since the beginning of the flooding three days ago, the teams from DEMIRA e.V. are working all around the clock with all existing capacities to support the relief actions. Our headquarters is located in Orašje, in the middle of the area most affected. We coordinate our efforts in close cooperation with the Crisis Center of Canton Posavina.

Our vehicles, ambulances and staff are in working continuously to rescue endangered people from the flooded areas and accommodate them in secure shelters.

DEMIRA e.V. has been active in humanitarian mine clearance and explosive ordnance disposal in Bosnia and Herzegovina since 2000.

On Saturday, 05/17/14, the evacuation of our neighbouring towns began. Thousands of people still have to be evacuated from the villages currently cut off from the outside world. The Sava River is extremely swollen after days of rainfall. At the moment our employees work day and night working to fix the dam of the Sava and secure it with sandbags.

Please help us, so we can continue to provide transport capacity and personnel. The people of Bosnia and Herzegovina need help fast - Help us, so that we can help them.
