Floods have hit villages in Rakhine State and Sagaing Region, DEMIRA is preparing for support mission to help the victims

Floods in Myanmar

Due to heavy rainfall floods where brought to several townships in the Rhankine State, where DEMIRA is already active. Some schools remain closed and patients from hospitals had to be moved to monastries.

The people affected by the floods are in need of food and drinking water; also the local farmers are fear big losses, because the water is draining their fields.

According to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology in Myanmar the rain will continue the next days and will cause the water to rise further.

At the moment, DEMIRA is preparing for an support mission to help the victims with drinking water purification and food supply.
